Q) Why can I not see the same picture dates on a page that my friends can see on their computer?

A) Browsers CACHE web pages so they will load faster. From within our picture website, you need to update your cache regularly by using the reload or refresh button found on your browser. THIS IS ESPECIALLY TRUE IF YOU ARE USING AMERICA ONLINE! AOL USERS CAN ALSO CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION.

Q) My child is in bunk X at camp Y. Please go get a picture of him/her immediately so I can see his/her smiling face.

A) We TRULY appreciate you taking the time to view our website. However, we need everyone to understand that we have over 3500 campers, participants and staff at our camps throughout the summer. Divide that by the 53 days of our camping season, the 4 cameras and people we have available and the 1/3 of the children who do not want their pictures taken and you can see the daunting task we have made for ourselves. We do our best to get EVERY child online. Between posting hundreds of pictures each day, as well as taking bunk pictures, we hope to accomplish getting everyone online.

Q) How can I download the pictures and movies?

A) Most browsers have a feature that enables you to save individual pictures to your local hard drive. After you have clicked on the small thumbnail picture to open the larger view, you should be able to RIGHT CLICK on the picture which opens a menu that gives you an option to "Save Picture As..." (or something to that effect). You can then choose a place on your local hard drive where you would like to save the picture. For the MPG movies, when you right click on the link, click on the Save Target As... option and then choose a place on your local hard drive where you would like to save the movie.

Q) What kind of cameras are you guys using?

A) In 2007, we use the Panasonic FZ50 for the pictures and movies.

Q) What programs are you using to create the NJ 'Y' Camps website?

A) The layout of the website is created in NetObjects Fusion and the picture pages are created using ThumbsPlus.

Q) Who is taking the pictures?

A) This year, Cedar Lake & Nah-Jee-Wah & Nesher, have individual camp photographers, Round Lake and Kislak share a single photographer, who travel all over camp everyday snapping pictures along the way. TAC & MountainTop assign directors and staff to take pictures within their camp. Camp MountainTop's director snaps pictures for the groups that come in as well as passing cameras off to the staff from those centers, who are with the kids constantly.

Q) Can I buy a CD/DVD of the pictures?

A) The picture website is always available through our PREVIOUS SUMMERS link. Unfortunately, CD-ROM's are no longer a viable medium for our picture website, as the number of CD's it takes to upload the whole site makes this time & cost prohibitive. Since the pictures will be available online for the forseeable future, we will currently not be producing DVD's.

Q) Are you going to take down the pictures and movies website right after camp?

A) No. The picture website is always available through our PREVIOUS SUMMERS link.
